Description
Dieffenbachia is one of the easiest indoor houseplants to grow and one of the most common houseplants. This tropical shrub displays lush leaves that are usually marked in shades of cream, yellow, or white, making dieffenbachia the best choice for brightening dark corners inside.
Because it grows upright, it is an excellent choice for growing along an empty wall or near large furniture. It adds charm and drama to bedrooms, offices and other rooms.
Just like most tropical houseplants, dieffenbachia is recommended to be grown in a relatively warm, humid location with plenty of light. That said, dieffenbachia also tolerates low light spots. If the leaves develop brown tips or edges, the air may be too dry. You can remedy this by relocating your dieffenbachia to a well-lit bathroom (or other humid spot), grouping it with other houseplants (which release moisture into the air as they ‘breathe’).
Dieffenbachia plants love regular watering, but never want the soil to be wet or soaked for long periods.
Fertilizing dieffenbachia encourages it to grow more and faster. At a minimum, it’s best to fertilize diffenbachia once or twice a year, but you can do it more often if you want without overdoing it.
