Description
Calathea orbifolia is one of the most beautiful of all the Calathea genus, with large, round leaves streaked with dark green and silver.
Calathea Orbifolia is commonly called the ‘Prayer Plant’ because their leaves close at night. If you get up before dawn, you may see the leaves hatch to catch the daylight.
Calathea orbifolia grows natively in Bolivia, where it basks in moisture and mottled light. It will be happier in your home if you mimic rainforest conditions: moist soil, lots of moisture, and the kind of light you would have under the canopy of larger trees, i.e. not direct sun. It will grow even faster with a monthly dose of liquid fertilizer in the spring and summer.
