Description
Masonian begonia, also called ‘Iron cross’, is a species of plant from the Begoniaceae family, native to southern China and northern Vietnam. It is a rhizomatous perennial begonia that grows up to 40/50 cm, characterized by large asymmetrical and structured green leaves covered with reddish hairs, with a prominent dark brown pattern in the center of each leaf, reminiscent of an Iron Cross. It produces small white flowers in erect panicles, but is grown primarily for its leafy effect.
Begonia Masoniana must be grown in a completely frost-free environment. During the summer it can be grown outside away from sunlight.
